Anyone got a lead on a good but cheap new bed?

yes I still have yet to get a real bed.  It's gotta happen soon but money is tight.

We are thinking a queen size box spring and mattress but hopefully for under a grand.   is that even possible?

Target has some good choices.  Beds at Target.  And you can get free shipping for $50 or more purchase AND here's a coupon code for another $5 off:  TCPJRBVN

I'll be in the market for a new mattress soon. Any suggestions on reasonable-priced, quality mattresses? My back deserves better than this!

P.S. Never buy a mattress without springs, unless you want to sleep on holes!

    Only one suggestion..

Buy a bed that is a little firmer than you want to start with.  With time, it will age and become softer.  That way, you won't be looking for another bed in 5 years.

PS  I have had great luck over the years with Sealy - esp with their Posturepedic line

Just bought a Simmons and Foster - got a great deal on it at Mattress Giant - it's alot like buying a car. It takes a long time. It's hard to tell what you've bought until you "drive it" off the lot. There's lots of paperwork. And after a week, you wish you would've bought a different one.  :-)

    Mmm. Electronics.

Sams Club, I bought a King size set (Serta perfect sleeper)  for under $800, including the frame. I had to get it home myself though. they may have good deals on delivery, i just didn't check that because I have a truck.

Ikea is the way to go.  They have some really great matresses and awesome bed sets.  If only there was a store in my area.  I have to shop ikea online and not everything is available that way!  :(

JC Penny Outlet has a good selection of mattresses and box springs for up to 90% off the retail price.  Their minimum discount is 50% off.  They have fewer twin and doubles to choose from than queens and kings.

Try your local Salvation Army.  They sell brand new mattresses and box springs/frames for about $200 for a twin/full/queen.  I have layed down on my grandma's bed, which we purchased from there, and it is VERY comfortable.  These are name brand mattresses...and again - brand new!

I posted this before, but wasn't sure it came through correctly:

You are  getting tips from a definite shop-a-holic.  Here goes, I know you may think I'm crazy but it works.  Go to your "My Web Search" on your browser, type in "cheap bedroom furniture"  you will be amazed at what you will see, another place is "chiefvalue.com", "Overstock.com" and "Smartbargains.com".  Also, after you have done that, by the way, just to throw this in, Sam's Club carries mattress for unbelievably low prices and what I like about them is that you don't have to buy them by the set and I haven't seen them available that way in years. Also, before you order anything, go to, if you don't already know about these places you just struck oil, Couponcabin.com, keycode.com, stealdeals.net, etc., the list goes on and on.  This is where you get all of your codes for discounts for whatever store you choose to buy from and also get free shipping.  Example, I got an Armoire in the color Buttermilk from Brylane.  Original price 199.99 it was on sale for 129.99 and it was like free shipping that weekend or whenever, anyway, when I got through using me codes ended up with the Armoire which everyone that comes in my house loves it, I, at the end paid 70.99 I even got free shipping on an item that large.  So, the keycodes are lifesavers.  Certain stores carry their own if they aren't listed, don't give up, go to search for their website and go on down further and it will say keycodes for that store, example, Victoria Secret has their own code site, that's just one of many merchants so as a dedicated shop-a-holic if you can't find it, I promise you, email me, I will let you know where to get it.  Good luck on your search and your purchases.  Sincerely, Kim in KY
