Who does it isolate? The listener from outside noise, or the people around from the noise of the iPod?

This is great!  I haven't seen just plain earbuds (not even the ones at Dollar General --which are really low cost) for this --and then to have the noise isolation!!!  This is great for any of us that use our iPods all the time.
